Decatur Kitchen Garden

When Jen reached out to us in the spring of 2023, she was dreaming of a backyard kitchen garden consisting of raised garden beds, fruit trees and berries, culinary herbs, and seasonal flowers. Unfortunately, once we completed the site evaluation during our on-site consultation, it quickly became evident that her backyard was too shady to support her garden ambitions.

After some convincing, we decided to move her dreams to the front yard instead, which received much more sunlight, and then got to work creating a landscape design that included raised garden beds, hardscape paths, and a foundation planting that included edible shrubs, berries, and native flowers and grasses.

A few months after our install team completed phase one of the design, Jen is the talk of the neighborhood! Her garden has exploded with an abundance of organic produce, and her neighbors can’t help offering praise and introducing themselves as they are taking their evening walks through the neighborhood. Luckily, in a few years she will have more than enough blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, pineapple guava, growing in her foundation softscape to share.
